Tansian University is a private faith based university that is located in Oba, idemili which is situated in the South local government of Anambra State, the site is an historical site as opposite the site is where Pope John Paul II addressed the crowd during it’s Visit to the state.
Tansian University establishment was an idea convinced by the efforts of Reverend Mosignor John Bosco Akam who initiated the foundation of the institution in 2002 but this was not successful until 2007 which was 5 years after the idea was conceived. on 17th of may 2007 the University was granted approval by National Universities Commission (NUC) alongside other private Universities in Nigeria.
The name Tansian University was a name named by the Founder in order to honour and immortalize the then late Reverend Father Michael Iwene Tansi who by his effort Pope John Francis II was able to visit Nigeria.
Tansian University in recent years has faced significant challenges but the University is progressing which is credited to the effort of the founder Reverend Father John Bosco Akam. It should be noted that Tansian University is a Faith Catholic University.
