Gombe State University of is a state owned University that is located in Tudun Wada,Gombe, Gombe State. The university is formally known by most students for its acronym, Gombe State University.
Gombe State University stablishment was an idea that was brought up by the then State Governor of Gombe State Mohammed Danjuma Doje who approved the formation of 35 member committee under the administration of the state ministry of education,the final and technical phase of the University was handed by 24 member Committee.
In 2004 the bill that would enable the establishment of the university was brought to the Gombe State House of Assembly, and this was passed, leading to the establishment of the university. The university was granted accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC) that same year.
Academic activities commenced for the 2004/2005 academic session with the school of the remedial program, but the undergraduate program initially commenced in 2006 with 370 students.
The university experienced expansion starting from its undergraduate program commencement. The postgraduate program commenced in 2008, and by 2012 the program had expanded to over 50 postgraduate courses offered at the institution.
The University College of Medicine was founded in the year 2006 and was able to expand to include other colleges that incorporated other medical colleges in the institution.

Undergraduate Requirements (100 Level / UTME)
• Candidates must score the approved minimum mark in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), usually at least 150.
• Candidates must choose Gombe State University as their first-choice institution.
