Kwara State University(KWASU) is a state owned University that is located in Malete,Kwara state.It is one of the notable state Universities that is located across western Universities in Nigeria.
The Kwara State University journey of establishment began in 2007 when a choice committee was formed by the then former state governor Bukola Saraki, who made sure the plan went smooth.
The bill for the establishment of Kwara State University was presented to the state assembly of Kwara State University, which was passed into law on 24 December 2008; however, academic activities commenced in the year 2009 following the visitation by the National Universities Commission (NUC), which approved the takeoff of the university.
Academic activities commenced in 2009 with just 550 students who were inducted across five colleges in the institution. In 2010, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology was established in the institution.
In 2019 Kwara State University transitioned from using a collegiate-based system to a faculties-based system, and in 2010 it secured accreditation from National Universities Commission (NUC)the National to establish a Faculty of Law in the institution, making it the seventh faculty that has been operated in the institution.
In less than a decade, Kwara State University has positioned itself as one of the best state universities in Nigeria, offering top courses with 11 faculties operated in the institution.
