College of Education Zing is a state-owned college of education that is located in Zing, Taraba State. The College of Education was established by the former government of Gongola State.
College of Education Zing was established on 14th August 1977 by the then Gongola Government based on the edict of 1978 to provide courses of study, training, and research in arts and languages as well as in vocational and technical subjects, which, when completed, can lead to the award of a certificate from Nigeria College of Education.
When the College of Education was established in the year 1977, academic activities started in 1978 on the temporary site, which is located at Nukkai Primary School, Jalingi. At the time of establishment, the College of Education was affiliated with Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, which oversaw and supervised the college of education’s academic activities till 1983, when it was affiliated with the University of Maiduguri.
In 1983 the College of Education switched affiliation from Ahmadu Bello University to the University of Maiduguri till 1986, when the supervision and authority of the College of Education Zing were transferred to NCEE.
The College of Education offers the NCE program, the pre-NCE program, and an undergraduate program in affiliation with Modibbo Adama University, Yola.

โ WASC/SSCE/GCE with 4 passes at one sitting or 5 passes at two sittings, including English Language, Mathematics, and two (2) other relevant science subjects or evidence of attempted WASC/SSCE/GCE or equivalent.
โ A complete Teacher Grade II Certificate with passes in English Language, Mathematics, Principle of Education, General/Integrated Science, and any other science-related subjects such as Health Science, Agricultural Science, Applied Biology, Home Economics, etc.
REMEDIAL STUDIES
โ Applicants offering two science subjects are required to have a WASCE pass or the equivalent in mathematics.
โ Applicants offering Mathematics as one of the two major teaching subjects must have a credit in Mathematics at the SSCE level or its equivalent credit or merit in Arithmetic at the TC II level.
โ Applicants offering agricultural education in addition to the general admission requirement must have a credit in agricultural science and a credit in any of the following: biology, chemistry, physics, geology, or TC II certificate with credit or merit in agricultural science plus integrated science or general science.
โ Applicants offering Home Economics in addition to the general admission are required to have credit or equivalent in Home Economics and, in addition, WASC credits or equivalent in any of the following: Biology, Science, Health Science, Physics, Needle Work, Cookery & Geography.
โ A complete Teacher Grade II Certificate with passes in English Language, Mathematics, Principle of Education, General/Integrated Science, and any other science-related subjects such as Health Science, Agricultural Science, Applied Biology, Home Economics, etc.
NCE Program Requirements
โ A Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or G.C.E. โOโ Level with credit passes in five (5) subjects in the same sitting or at two sittings.
โ Two of the credits must be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to offer. Credit in English and mathematics will be required.
โ A Grade II Teachersโ Certificate (TC II) with credit or merit in five (5) subjects, two of which must be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to offer. Credit/merit in English language and mathematics will be required.
โ For candidates wishing to offer courses in vocational and technical education, R.S.A. or City and Guilds Intermediate Certificate with the Federal Craft Training Certificate with credits/merits in at least five subjects are acceptable qualifications.
โ An associate certificate in education awarded by an approved institution in Nigeria or abroad is also an acceptable qualification.
โ Successful candidates in the Pre-NCE final examinations would be required to regularize their admission with the JAMB examination as the case may be.
โ All candidates wishing to be considered for admission must enroll for and write the selection examination organized by the institution.
