Kwararafa University is a private, community-based university that is located in the ancient city of Wukari, Taraba State. The university was named after an ancient kingdom of Kwararafa.
Kwararafa University was established in the year 2005 after having secured a license from the National Universities Commission (NUC). It was named Wukari Jubilee at the time of establishment, and that is what it was licensed as until it was changed to Kwararafa University Wukari.
As of the time of establishment, the university is known as the first community-promoted university in Nigeria, the first university in Taraba State, and the second private university in the Northeast Geopolitical Zone of Nigeria.
The university name was changed from Wukari Jubilee University to Kwararafa University Wukari in 2012 to reflect historical and cultural ties. Admission Requirement
• Candidates applying for 100-level admission through UTME must possess five (5) credit passes in SSCE, GCE, NECO, or equivalent in relevant subjects in not more than two sittings.
• Candidates must obtain a minimum JAMB score of 150 and above.
• Credit passes in the English language and mathematics are compulsory for all categories of students.
• The university will conduct Post-UTME screening for qualified candidates.
• Candidates applying through Direct Entry (200 Level) must possess five (5) credit passes, including English Language in SSCE, GCE, NECO, or equivalent in relevant subjects in not more than two sittings.
• Direct Entry candidates must also possess at least two Advanced Level passes in relevant subjects, or an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) with credit level, or Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) with credit level.
• Candidates with passes in two IJMB/JUPEB subjects out of three are eligible for direct entry admission.
• Candidates with HND or a third-class degree can apply for admission into 300 level.
• For IJMB/Diploma admission, candidates must possess four (4) credit passes in SSCE, GCE, NECO, NABTEB, or equivalent in relevant subjects in not more than two sittings.
• A combination of any three IJMB subjects can qualify candidates for admission into degree programs of their choice.
• IJMB subjects available include literature in English, history, CRS, government, economics, business studies, accounting, physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, geography, and agricultural science.
