The Federal University of Health Sciences Otukpo is a federal university that is located in the Otukpo Local Government of Benue State. The university was a specialized health university that was established to pioneer health education in Nigeria.
The Federal University of Health Sciences Otukpo was established in 2015 by the then president of Nigeria, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, who established the university alongside five (5) other universities in response to spreading federal universities across Nigeria.
When the university was established in 2015, the university did not commence operation until 2019 under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. The delay in the administration and takeoff of the university was because of a lack of amenities and facilities that would need to take off.
With approval to take in 2019, the university began operation in 2020, admitting its first set of students after securing accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC).
