College of Education Minna is a state-owned college of education that is located in Minna, Niger State.
The College of Education was established by the old Northwestern government in the year 1975 because of the pressing need for teachers that will teach in both primary and secondary schools in the state.
Academic activities began in November 1975 in the institution’s temporary site, which at that time was located in Bosco, Minna, with just 100 students and with a staff strength of 24 under the administration of the late Dr. Umaru Sanda.
In 1983 the institution was upgraded from advanced Teachers College to College of Education by the then state governor of Niger State under the Niger State edict N.S.L.N. number 3 of 1983, which was later amended by Niger State law No. 21 of 2011.
College of Education Minna was established with the objective of providing full-time courses in teaching to produce highly qualified, motivated, conscientious, and efficient NCE teachers for secondary school.
College of Education Minna is in affiliation with Ahmadu Bello University and Usman DanFodio University Sokoto to offer degree programs.

Admission Requirements
GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
โ A senior secondary school certificate (SSC) WAEC, NECO, or GCE โOโ Level NABTEB and any other equivalent with four (4) credits at one or two sittings. Two of the credits must be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to offer. Credits in English and/or mathematics may be required in some courses to meet departmental requirements.
โ A Grade II Teacherโs Certificate (TC II) with credit or merit in five subjects, two of which must be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to offer. Credit/merit in English language and/or mathematics may be a requirement in some courses.
โ For candidates wishing to offer courses in Vocational R.S.A. or City and Guilds/intermediate Certificate or the Federal Craft Training Certificate in Nigeria or abroad, it is also an acceptable qualification.
โ Successful candidates in the Pre-NCE final examination who, in addition to taking and succeeding in a selection examination matriculation examination body, would also be qualified for admission.
โ All candidates wishing to be considered for admission must enroll in, write, and pass the selection examination organized by an accredited body such as JAMB at a satisfactory level.
MINIMUM CREDITS REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION
โ A student must earn a total minimum of 118 to 126 credits to graduate, covering all the components of the program as indicated in the course.
โ Continuous Assessment (C.A.) 40%
โ End of semester examination: 60%
โ A registered student for the NCE program must attain 75% attendance before he/she is allowed to write the end-of-semester examination. This is very important; students must comply with this policy.
โ A student of NCE regular has a minimum of six (6) semesters (i.e., 3 academic sessions) including teaching practice and a maximum of ten (10) semesters (5 academic sessions).
โ A student of NCE by correspondence has a minimum of four (4) contact periods and a maximum of six (6) contacts, including teaching practice.
โ A student shall be considered not entitled to an NCE certificate if, at the end of ten (10) semesters or six (6) contacts, as the case may be, the candidate still has outstanding carryovers that are considered compulsory and of core status; such a student shall not be certificated.
