Moshood Abiola Polytechnic is a state-owned polytechnic that is owned by the state government of Ogun State, and it is named after Moshood Abiola, who at one time was a declared president of Nigeria before his death; he also contributed massively to the institution when he was alive.
Moshood Abiola Polytechnic’s establishment was a necessity that was approved by the Federal Government, driving the need for the nation to operate a technically based institution that will drive the nation forward, and this necessity was welcomed by the Ogun State Government, which made a law that established the polytechnic in 1980.
When the polytechnic was established in 1989, the polytechnic had started receiving admissions in 1979 with staff even present at that period comprising both the academic and non-academic staff.
Academic activities and administration activities commenced at the temporary site located at Oke Egunya and Onikolobo, respectively, before the polytechnic moved to the Ojere campus upon 968 hectares of land.
The polytechnic has expanded in terms of academic strength, increasing from the admission of just over 200 students to boosting over 10,000 in every session.
