Federal University Kashere (FUK) is a federally owned university that is located in Kashere, Akko Local Government of Gombe State. The university was established alongside 9 other universities by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

Federal University Kashere was established in 2010 to maintain the presence of Federal University in Gombe State; it is one of the states in Nigeria that, before 2010, did not have federal universities.

The establishment of Federal University Kashere can be traced to November 11th, 2010, when a committee was formed under the then National Universities Commission (NUC) to begin formalities that would see to the establishment of 9 federal universities across geopolitical zones in Nigeria, to which Gombe State was included.

The committee submitted their report to the minister of education, who passed this through to the executive council, and this was successful, leading to the approval of the creation of 9 universities, of which Federal University Kashere is among.

Though established in 2010, academic activities did not commence until 2011, when President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan appointed the first Vice Chancellor of Federal University Kashere, Professor Mohammed Kabiru Farouk, and the Registrar, Dr. Abubakar Aliyu Bafeto.

Federal University Kashere was established with the mission to serve as a world-renowned center of learning through teaching, research, scholarly/artistic activities, and service to the community, state, nation, and the world.

Admission Requirement

UTME Candidates

• Candidates must have sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and obtained the minimum score approved by JAMB and the university.

• Candidates must possess a minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB.

• The five credits must include English language, mathematics, and three other relevant subjects for the chosen course.

• Candidates must score at least 150 in the UTME.

• Candidates must meet the minimum cutoff mark for their chosen program.

Direct Entry Candidates

• Candidates must possess a relevant HND qualification in their field of study.

• An HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Statistics, or Mathematics is acceptable for admission into Computer Science.

• Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACIB, ACIS, ACIN, and ACIT are acceptable for business administration, accountancy, or finance and banking.
