Al-Qalam University: Courses, School Fees, Cut-Off Mark & Admission

Al-Qalam University is a privately owned university that is located in Katsina State. The institution was formerly known as Katsina State University before it was renamed to its current name.

Al-Qalam University was established in January 2005 based on the accreditation status by the National Universities Commission (NUC), as at that time it was the second private Islamic university that was located in Nigeria. Academic activities commenced that same year with 2 faculties and with about 300 students.

Al-Qalam University’s establishment is rooted in the idea of establishing an Islamic university in the Niger Republic by the organization of the Islamic Conference in 1987, and this was what inspired other scholars in Nigeria to establish a university, and this was conceived in 2005 by the Katsina Islamic Foundation that saw to the fund raising.

When the university was established as Katsina State University, it was changed to Al-Qalam University in 2006, but it was officially recognized by this name in 2014. Though Al-Qalam was established by Islam, it embedded the culture of Western education.
